New reachstacker already in RailPort Arad

On October 26, 2010 we informed about acceptance test for a new reachstacker for RailPort Arad (RPA). The machine has just arrived in Curtici and we got some detailed information about the investment.
After RPA issued a tender in the beginning of this year for a new reachstacker, the manufacturer was chosen in spring. Four major companies made offers, and after carefully analyzing the technical parameters, the optionals and of course the price, the contract was signed with Konecranes Lifttrucks AB Sweden.
The factory test was made on the 22nd of October at the Kone plant in Markaryd, and the machine arrived to the terminal in Curtici on the 15th of November. A crew of four Hungarian servicemen from the Kone branch in Szeged assembled the SMV 4527 CB5 reachstacker on the next day. On the 17th the machine successfully passed the final test, and on the same day a driver from Sweden made a training for the RPA crane operators. The managing director of RPA signed the Startup Report with the sales representative of Konecranes Hungary.
With this new investment the lifting capacity of RPA terminal in Curtici was highly increased, and the new machine also provides a reliable backup for the days when the RTG crane is under maintenance. The new machine is equipped with combi spreader, so beside lifting containers of any dimension, it can be used also for lifting semitrailers, flatracks and swap bodies.
